Every week we receive a new request for help. Yet it’s often an invisible crime.
Destroying lives from the safety of a computer screen.
From the anonymity of the street.
The few times trafficking does enter the news it can feel “glamorized” like it’s this big “thing” that happens in the glitzy world of celebrities.
Yet the reality, for all its horror, is mundane.
The 17-going-on-18 girl staying at a group home, bored out of her mind - her roommate says,
“oh, come hang out with me and my boyfriend.”
“Make a little money.”
What comes after the trauma and devastation? How does a survivor pick up the pieces and build a new life?
For adults, a new life means finding a vast net of resources. The top 3 needed?
For UGNE, binding up the brokenhearted means paving a pathway to freedom through
⮕Emergency and short-term housing
⮕Financial assistance with medical bills, transportation, utilities, and more
⮕Peer & Ally mentor team for every man and woman in our program
⮕Group events and group education
⮕Case management, Law enforcement liaison, and a whole lot more…
I know, it’s long, and there’s a lot on there. This journey could take one year. But to be honest, it’s probably going to take 4 years.
This is not a simple or easy journey….
…it takes determination, grit, community, time, and a whole lot of love. It also takes money. A lot of money.
How much does it cost for one woman to walk into freedom?
We estimate it costs UGNE a minimum of $12,000. Per. Year.
That’s because UGNE is determined to do our very best for those who have experienced the very worst.
That $12,000 covers hundreds of hours with highly trained peer and ally mentors, all their basic needs, emergency housing, 6 months of short-term housing, medical, legal, and utility bills.
Join our community and become a monthly sponsor. End the Wait for the 15 men and women on our waiting list.
$50/month sponsorship gives: Intensive mentoring, financial support, and housing.
No two individuals on our waitlist are the same; each has a unique, and frankly, horrific story.
What they share is a common goal of freedom.
“Alicia” is one survivor for whom your monthly sponsorship would light the way to freedom.
“Alicia” joined AMP in June 2024. She is couch-surfing and needs housing in a safe town far from her traffickers. Alicia is constantly looking over her shoulder, and desperate to get to a safe place – from which she hopes to press charges against her traffickers. Alicia is struggling to access food, transportation, housing, and legal support. In the next 12 months Alicia plans to work with her mentors on meeting her basic needs, obtaining and furnishing an apartment, starting school, and sharing her story with law enforcement. Additionally, her mentors plan to work with her on identifying healthy relationships and building new narratives about freedom and independence.
